In April 2026, the Republic of Armenia adopted the Biodiversity Conservation Targets and Action Plan for 2026\u20132030, which defines the main directions of the country\u2019s state policy on biodiversity conservation.<\/p>\n

In this context, the introduction of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system also plays an important role. The system \u043f\u0440\u0435\u0434\u0443\u0441\u043c\u0430\u0442\u0440\u0438\u0432\u0430\u0435\u0442 that producers and importers take responsibility for managing the waste generated by their products. This contributes to waste reduction, recycling, and the conservation of natural resources, helping to reduce pressure on ecosystems and biodiversity.<\/p>\n
Biodiversity conservation also begins with our everyday choices \u2014 how we consume, what we recycle, and what kind of environment we leave around us. Today, as Armenia enters a new phase in biodiversity conservation policy, it is important to remember that waste reduction and responsible production are also part of biodiversity protection.<\/p>\n
Steps toward improving waste management and introducing the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system in Armenia are being implemented within the framework of the Waste Policy in Armenia (WPA) program, with financial support from Sweden and technical assistance from the AUA Acopian Center for the Environment.
